About Us
Read MoreSantosha (संतोष) is a Sanskrit word meaning contentment: a deep sense of peace and being happy with what is. It is the feeling we want every guest to leave with, and making sure you are truly contented during your stay is what we are here for.
Tucked away on the wild, unspoilt east coast, Santosha sits in a part of Barbados that most visitors never see. Here the Atlantic rolls in against a rugged coastline and the rolling green hills of the Scotland District, giving sweeping vistas you will not find anywhere else on the island. Yet you are only 15 minutes from the restaurants and shops of Speightstown and 40 minutes from Grantley Adams International Airport.
We are happy to arrange car rental, book attractions and tours, recommend our favourite beaches, rum shops and places to eat, and help with anything you need before and during your stay. Just ask.
Choose from our air-conditioned, self-catering apartments, each with a private bathroom, free Wi-Fi, an equipped kitchen and a balcony or patio with sea, pool or garden views. Or take over our three-bedroom beach house, perfect for families or friends wanting a memorable stay together. Want to arrive to a stocked kitchen? Add a Basic (US$75) or Deluxe (US$200) grocery pack when you book.

The mill includes an exhibit of the equipment used to produce sugar at the time when the industry was run by wind-power generated from mills such as this one. The rubble walls are comprised of boulders held together with a mixture of egg-white and coral dust (there was no cement when this plantation house was built!)Morgan Lewis stands on approximately 3,000 square feet of gently sloping land, approximately one half of the way between the top of Cherry Tree Hill to the west and Shorey Village to the east.Walkers Beach One of the most unspoilt beaches in the Caribbean. You might hear this garden before you see it, its delightfully eccentric owner, Anthony Hunte BCH, plays classical music throughout the garden. This is the working end of old Castle Grant plantation, where sugar cane was once processed into syrup. Step through the gate and you'll soon tread on the old weigh bridge, where loads of cane were tallied. Just past the old stone outbuildings, where statues lurk among exotic plants, you'll find yourself on the lip of a great, hemispherical sinkhole in the limestone substrate. Steps lead down and paths branch out through an exquisite profusion of flowering plants, with towering trees around the edges. Both here and farther along the top are a series of small secret gardens, where you can sit to absorb the serenity and enjoy a picnic. Be sure to climb the upper level steps to Mr. Hunte's house, a transformation of the old stables. He'll invite you for refreshments-including his legendary rum punch or freshly made lemonade (for sale).Harrison's Cave Eco-Adventure Park Harrison's Cave, a longtime favorite for its stunning tram tours through crystalline limestone caverns, has been reimagined into Harrison's Cave Eco-Adventure Park. This expansion introduces a day's worth of new activities set amidst Barbados’ natural splendor. Visitors can now enjoy the 'Monkey Zipline', 'Gully Challenge Course', and immerse in local heritage with the 'Mount Gay Rum Experience'. They also feature unique opportunities like moonlight night hikes, private vehicle tours, and hands-on tree-planting experiences perfect for anyone interested in giving back to the local environment.Barbados Wildlife Reserve A short drive from Santosha, set in a shady mahogany woodland at Farley Hill in St Peter. Arrive by 2pm to catch the afternoon feeding, when the monkeys come out in the greatest numbers, often with their babies. On calm days you can swim in the natural rock pools inside. The cave can close when the sea is rough, so check before you go.Chalky Mount Potteries A hillside village in the Scotland District, just 10 minutes from Santosha, where families of potters have worked the area's distinctive red clay for generations. Visit the workshop to watch pots being thrown on the wheel and fired in the kiln, and pick up a hand-painted jug, vase or mug in the shop, with views over the green hills to the Atlantic.Speightstown Barbados's second town, 15 minutes away on the west coast. Once a busy port trading with Bristol in England, it earned the nickname "Little Bristol". Follow the seaside boardwalk past white sand beaches to the esplanade and jetty, and look out for the colourful "Bridge of Tides" mural. Visit Arlington House Museum, a restored 18th-century house that tells the story of the town and island life. For food, grab a fish sandwich at Caboose, have lunch at Local & Co or The Orange Street Grocer, stop by Sugar Mamma Barbados for sweet treats, and treat yourself to a luxury dinner at Baia. Stay on for one of the west coast's beautiful sunsets.Welchman Hall Gully A lush tropical gully in St Thomas, about 25 minutes from Santosha, formed when the roofs of ancient limestone caves collapsed. A three-quarter-mile path winds past more than 150 kinds of plants, including nutmeg, clove, bamboo and towering palms, and a giant column where a stalactite and stalagmite have joined. Look up into the trees for troops of Barbados green monkeys. A self-guided walk takes 30 to 45 minutes, and it is right next to Harrison's Cave, so the two make an easy day out.
